Why?
First off, he's just a great writer. But what amazes me the most is how much he put into every story. There is a story for every character. Every event has a reason. Every thing has a purpose. Nothing was haphazard or random. He invented a language, that's how much he believed in his stories. You get a feeling that he's telling you history and not fiction. He's made the characters real and the events real. I can't imagine the creative genius it would take to accomplish what he did.
